David Makauskas

My Name is David Makauskas,

I am married to my best friend and Wife Vickie Makauskas, 19 years, our family: Brandi Makauskas, Chris Makauskas, Travis Makauskas, DJ Makauskas, Philip Makauskas. I am a bless man, God is first in our family, then Academics and Sports. Below is just a quick introduction of who I am:

I am a retired Law Enforcement Officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. I retired after 32 years of service to the citizens of Jacksonville Florida. I enjoyed my career in Law Enforcement, I learned so much about myself and others. It kept me humble in many ways. The men and women no doubt Steller, dedicated, always going beyond to help others. (J.S.O.)

I coached football for 5 years at Mandarin High School while serving as an S.R.O(School Resource Officer).

I enjoyed working with the students at Mandarin High School as well as being a Football coach. I was honored to work with the 4th Judicial Teen Court Division a program that allowed teens with nonviolent misdemeanors not to have a juvenile record. Programs were set up so they could better serve their community without serving time.

I coached at Arlington Country Day High School as a Defensive Back Coach (2 Years). Mandarin Athletic Association where I coached as an assistance coach (2 years) (Pop-Warner) Head Coach (2 Years) for our JV division. I presently am coaching with the Fruit Cove Flyers in St. Johns County.

I also won the City Championship in the Varsity Division in Pop-Warner. It was truly an honor to have some great coaches that helped me in both championships. These guys were great could not have done it without them.

I also was Head Coach in the Jacksonville City E.S.Y.F.L.  8 on 8 Spring Football Division; we won the Jacksonville City E.S.Y.F.L. Championship, truly a great bunch of players that have went on to High School and now some preparing for College. I will never forget these Coaches and Players that made this possible in my life.

I enjoyed the game of football and the opportunity to volunteer on the Mandarin Athletic Association Board. While as Board Member I enjoyed the challenge of working with our community and the men and women on the Board itself. It was truly a great opportunity to see firsthand what the men and women serving these associations give back, their dedication to the kids and their community is truly amazing.

While working as a Board Member, I was asked by Ryan Walker, Commissioner (of Under Armor Flag Football) to help start a Flag league at Mandarin Athletic Association. This grew quickly, during 2016-to present time, we built our leagues by involving ourselves in Community involvement, Tutoring and Mentoring, as well as Coaching.

Thank You for visiting our website, I hope it is helpful in making decisions on training or enjoying our youth leagues.
